Jonathan McGuire, Director of Student Ministries has been at Lakeland since 2010. Jonathan’s goal for the students attending Lakeland’s Youth Group is for each to become fully devoted worshipers of the Father, Son, and Spirit and missionaries in their high schools. 

Currently a student at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Clinton working on his Masters of Divinity Degree in Biblical Exegesis, Jonathan has studied at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.  Prior to his call to ministry, Jonathan went to Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he studied History and International Relations.  He graduated high school in Novi, Michigan.  Before his family moved north, he attended St. Andrews Episcopal School and Northwest Rankin.

Jonathan has served congregations and taught 6th-12th graders in Cairo, Egypt, Chicago, Illinois, Battle Creek and Detroit Michigan, and New York City.

In addition to his service at Lakeland, Jonathan currently works as an Admissions Counselor at RTS and writes and edits the weekly RTS Jackson newsletter, The Reformed Informer. 

Jonathan and his wife Shelley are parents of two children, Layla and James.
